Kamloops RCMP investigates shooting and vehicle fire
KAMLOOPS —Kamloops RCMP is seeking witnesses, video footage, and information on a shooting at a motel yesterday, followed by a suspect vehicle fire.
On Saturday (Sept. 16) around 2:35 a.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers were called to a motel on the 1300 block of Hugh Allan Drive in response to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, multiple officers confirmed that there had been gunshots, but no one was injured. The police found the suspect vehicle, a black Dodge Ram truck, on fire at around 2:50 a.m. on the 2000 block of Tremerton Drive. The truck was reportedly stolen from a home on Belfour Drive at 2:30 a.m.
“Police, including frontline officers, members of the Police Dog Service Unit, the Kamloops RCMP Forensic Identification Services Unit, and the General Investigations Support Team, are all involved in the investigation, which remains in its early stages,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson . “We are asking anyone who has any security or dash cam footage, or information related to the stolen vehicle report, shooting, or fire, to please contact police as soon as possible.”
The suspects in the shooting have been identified as males. The first suspect was wearing a black top, dark pants, and white shoes with orange on the back, and the other was wearing a black top, blue jeans, and black shoes with orange details on the bottom.
