Nine structures confirmed destroyed, two damaged in Bush Creek East wildfire in the Shuswap
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TRND) has confirmed damage to 11 structures in the southern Adams Lake area after the Bush Creek East wildfire swept through the region. Nine of the structures were destroyed by the flames while two others were damaged.
In a news release Wednesday, the TNRD says there have been no structures damaged along Loakin-Bear Creek Road, Little Shuswap Lake Road, or in Turtle Valley. However there are many ongoing hazards in fire-affected areas, including downed power lines, dangerous trees, and debris. Active firefighting efforts are also continuing in many areas.
The TNRD says it is reaching out directly to property owners and will be working them to take the next steps in recovery.
Several areas within TNRD Electoral Areas “O” (Lower North Thompson) and “P” (Rivers and the Peaks) remain on Evacuation Order due to the Bush Creek East fire. The areas include lower west Adams Lake, Turtle Valley, and portions of Loakin-Bear Creek Road and Little Shuswap Lake Road. Many ongoing hazards remain in fire affected areas, including downed power lines, danger trees, and debris.
