Kamloops woman arrested, charged after stolen vehicle hits police cruiser
TK’EMLUPS — A local woman is behind bars and awaiting a court date after allegedly hitting a police cruiser with a stolen car Friday (Jan. 12).
Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of Kamloops RCMP says police were called to the 600-block of Alberni Avenue at about 4:00 p.m. last Friday. The caller told police someone had just stolen a vehicle from that spot.
“Officers tracked the vehicle to an area in the 600-block of Kamloopa Road,” said Shoihet in a news release. “The driver allegedly collided with a police vehicle while attempting to evade capture. She was arrested without incident after the vehicle she was driving became disabled.”
Twenty-three-year-old Shaina Juarez of Kamloops is facing the following charges:
- Fail to comply with a court order (x2)
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Theft of a motor vehicle
Juarez is expected back in court Tuesday.
