Red Bridge closed after Tuesday morning fire; crews assessing its stability

KAMLOOPS — The Red Bridge is closed Tuesday (Sept. 17) morning.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say its officers and members from Tk’emlups Rural RCMP helped Kamloops Fire Rescue crews with traffic at the Red Bridge at around 6:45 a.m. after a report of a fire involving its southern support beams.

The Red Bridge is temporarily closed until maintenance crews can assess its stability. Drivers are asked to reroute.

RCMP say more information will be provided once it’s available. DriveBC says another update is due at noon.
