Kamloops Fire Rescue battling early, notable structure fire on Seymour Street West

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.): In a post to social media, the City says KFR crews has the fire knocked down and under control. However, crews remain on scene to manage any hot spots.
Seymour Street West is reduced to one lane of traffic, creating substantial backups across Overlanders Bridge.


Drivers are encouraged to drive carefully and take alternate routes to downtown.
EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews are battling a notable structure fire in the city’s downtown Friday (Dec. 15) morning.
The City of Kamloops says KFR is responding to a fully-involved structure fire on Seymour Street West. Flames were seen coming from the former 91 West Seymour Street housing unit.
Crews were seen tackling the fire from both St. Paul Street West and Seymour Street West. Flames intensified in the 6 o’clock hour.

The City tells drivers to expect delays and consider alternate routes. Drivers are also asked to drive carefully in the area.
