UPDATE: Power restored to Salmon Arm area

SALMON ARM, B.C. — UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): B.C. Hydro says power has been restored to the area.

EARLIER: Thousands of B.C. Hydro customers are without power in the Salmon Arm area Monday afternoon (Oct. 16).

According to B.C. Hydro, the power went off to 13,677 customers just before 1:00 p.m.

The utility’s website blames the outage on a substation fault and says crews have been assigned to investigate and repair the fault.

There is no word on when power may be restored.
