TNRD gives properties around the Ross Moore Lake wildfire ‘all clear’

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: The B.C. Wildfire Service has now classified the Ross Moore Lake fire as ‘being held.’
EARLIER: The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has given property owners around the Ross Moore Lake wildfire south of Kamloops the ‘all clear.’
In a news release, the TNRD says evacuation alerts covering 354 addressed properties around the fire have now been lifted.
The wildfire was first discovered at Ross Moore Lake, just east of Lac Le Jeune, on July 21. It’s believed to have been caused by lightning.
The fire quickly grew to 1,800 hectares within two days of its discovery and eventually spread to encompass 11,382 hectares.
B.C. Wildfire Service crews continue to work on controlling the fire and it is still considered to be out of control. The fire is still sending smoke into the air that is being noticed in surrounding communities.
