Kamloops’ new Heritage Railway Park opens its doors Saturday

KAMLOOPS — Members of the public can enjoy the Kamloops Heritage Railway Park starting Saturday (April 16) for opening day.
Open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., general admission is by donation for all visitors.
There’s a new focus this year as the Spirit of Kamloops steam locomotive 2141 likely won’t be taking to the rails around the city.
The new park is the main attraction this year as visitors can tour the site and heritage cars, walk around equipment inside the shop, see and talk with vintage auto owners, and enjoy the HO scale model railway.
As well, Cookshack Cravings Food Truck will be on-site for all your snacking needs.
This winter, volunteers have spent countless hours renovating the cars KHR has lined up in the park. There’s an old cattle car, a caboose, and the old passenger car that was moved onto the static track in January 2021.
