SALMON ARM, B.C. — Salmon Arm is celebrating the opening of a new 38-unit supportive housing facility for the Shuswap city’s homeless population.
Cedar Place is now open at 540 Third St. Southwest. The four-storey building will be managed by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
Each unit has its own kitchenette and bathroom, and two staff members will remain on site at all times.
Two other buildings on the site, Larch Place and Birch Place, opened earlier this year. They provide housing for low-to-moderate income people.
Through B.C. Housing, the provincial government provided $11.7 million for Cedar Place, along with about $1 million in annual operating funding.
