Village of Chase placed on evacuation alert

CHASE, B.C — The Village of Chase has been placed under an Evacuation Alert, as a result of the growing White Rock Lake wildfire. In a notice posted to the Village website, officials say this is not an order to leave homes, but due to the potential threat to life and health, an Evacuation Alert has been issued.
Residents are asked to prepare to evacuate if necessary, and more information from the Village of Chase will be issued at noon Friday (Aug. 6).
Evacuation Routes, Distances and Time Considerations:
Kamloops – Highway 1 West – 55 km, 40 minutes.
Alternate route via Kamloops along Kamloops-Shuswap Road Salmon Arm – Highway 1 East – 53 km, 43 minutes.
Those under evacuation alert are asked to do the following to prepare:
- Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
- Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents, cell phone & charger and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
- Prepare to move disabled persons, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
- Prepare to take pets with you including pet care items (leash, carrier, food) and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
- Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles. If transportation assistance is needed, call the Chase Community Services at 778- 586-6565.
- Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible.
- Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.
