New fires spotted Tuesday near Kamloops, Barriere

KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildfire Service is informing the public of new wildfires in the Kamloops and Barriere areas, both of which popped up on Tuesday afternoon (July 13).

The Mount Peter Ridge Line fire is measured at about four hectares and is very visible across the South Thompson River from the Dallas neighbourhood of Kamloops.

To the north, a new fire called the Bear Creek fire is burning northeast of Barriere near East Barriere Lake.

On its active wildfire page, the B.C. Wildfire Service lists the fire as 34 hectares in size.

There are no evacuation alerts or orders associated with either fire as of Tuesday evening.
